Default How do you earn your gold now?

Hey

iam thinking of getting my self a copy of GW:Nightfall
which ive heard some good things about, but iam wondering how do you earn your gold now when solo farming is nerfed well maybe nott totaly nerfed but still enough to make it agonising,so how do you guys earn your gold thru elite missions?
not sure if this belongs in the farminf section but iam talking generaly about all chars/proffessions.

I kinda just worked from a few decent drops I got, and then worked my way up, by selling and buying.

you can earn your gold on various ways in gw. the most common are:

- powertrading. This is a very good and fast way to earn loads of gold. you must have some starting cash to begin with it and you need a very good understanding of what the prices on the various items are. not too forget time spending in outposts buying and selling those items.

- farming. you can farm various things and the builds can be acuired on this forum. this is a decent way of making cash. but be prepared of doing this over and over and over again. if you want to do this it's best to have all 3 versions of GW, because most builds require skills from different campaigns. i think the best places to farm now are solo UW and FoW.

- Chest running. This is also a good way of making money, but you need to have some luck and the cash to buy the keys. To make good money you can sell the accuired items cheap to powertraders and go on with running, or try to make big cash on the good items and try to sell them at higher prices.

- DoA. The DoA is an elite area of nightfall. you need to come there 1st, but when you're there and find a good group you can make money of the drops that are there.

overall making money is (buying and) selling in the outposts. only do this with the items worth selling. personally i don't like to stand in a town for a hour trying to find the player that wants to pay the price, but i want to go out and get more items. so i go for quantity over quality. other players go for the quality.

What's this "solo farming nerf" I keep hearing about? Did drop rates get worse or just farming items get harder?

There are 2 updates which made farming hard
1) Monster run away when take dmg from skills like Shield of Judgment, Glad. defense, Vengeful Was Khanhei,..

2) When you enter an area allot of times to farm it over and over again, your chance of getting something good will decrease

For the topic I make my money by farming and powertrading

Unless you want to buy something ridiculously priced (torment shield, crystalline sword), there's no real need to solo farm merely for the sake of getting gold.

You can easily get by with "perfect" collectors items and greens, and if you want something in the middle ranges you can always do DoA, UW, FoW, or chest running. Another good way is to do services for other people for a certain price, as you can get more gold faster (and is more rewarding and fun) than way than most solo-farm methods.

I play the game without heroes and henchmen. I don't believe that I've farmed at all over the past year and a half, other than for collectable drops during the holiday events.

Yeah. Me too.

I also wait for events and get the "token-like" items and sell those for 100g each. I do the same for monestary credits, battle commedations, etc.

The best place to get money know is by far the DoA. Once you get a nice group perferable guildies) you get rack up at least 125k++ an hour. Leme explain:
Using a nice DoA build(i like DoA balanced http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:Team_-_DoA_Balanced) you clear the four areas in this manner City-> Veil -> Gloom -> Foundary. Once you finish it all you will have 1 margonite, 2 stygian, 3 torment, 4 titan gemstones. Just from gemstones thats almost 500k. Then you get gold drops and greens that are worth 150k+. The whole thing takes like 4 hours but thats still a whopping 125k++ per hour. Much much better than any 30K/ hour farming.

If you need quick, fast cash running is the way to go. Unstead if relying on bosses to drop greens you can always get cash from running. Droks runs now take like 15 min for dervishes and the going rate is 4k. Thats 60k in a little over an hour. Not bad.

Nice, about the 10,000th time someone graces a farming thread to inform us that we don't need high priced items, we can play perfectly fine on collector items

I am so glad to hear that, all that tedious farming is over. I can just get a collector weapon. Man if I only would have known this sooner.

I made alot of Money from doing Killroy Chests. 1-4k+ a Run and with the luckyness you can get Crystalline Sword.

Another Place i think is good way on making money(Wurm Farm Big Time)

Farming Dead Swords is also a good way to make money.

I farm SF. It is common to me to get around 2 greens per run. Last time i got Drago's Flatbow (non vamp). Also you make a few K just getting the normal drops and cash they drop. I also do some 55 in Moddock Crevice. I get a gold rune and some gold bows and I got a gold tattooed scimitar once. Easy way for some quick cash. I also 55 farm dead swords. They don't just drop dead bows but they also drop other kinds of golds. I also make a few K for just farming.

Powertrading is by FAR the best way to make moolah. For example:

I buy a req 9 Sword, it has a crap inscription, crap pommel, and crap hilt. It costs me 2.5k.

I buy a 15^50 inscription, which costs me 5k.

I buy a Zealous hilt and a +5 armor pommel, which costs me around 2.5k again.

I can sell this item right back here on guru for 30k+, which is 20k profit

or Uw farming. Since warriors can do it now, it's become very popular.
